Senior NetSuite Technical Consultant
The Role
As a Senior NetSuite Technical Consultant, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of customizations and integrations on the NetSuite platform. You'll turn complex business requirements into robust technical solutions, serve as the technical escalation point on your engagements, and set the standard for engineering quality across the team. You won't just write scripts — you will architect solutions that hold up at scale. This is a senior role for a seasoned NetSuite developer; it is not a task-only or entry-level position.
What You'll Do
- Lead discovery, design, development, and deployment of NetSuite customizations using SuiteScript (2.x/2.1), SuiteFlow, and SuiteTalk.
- Design and build across the full range of script types — User Event, Client, Scheduled, Map/Reduce, Suitelet, and RESTlet — applying performance and governance best practices on the SuiteCloud platform.
- Architect and build integrations between NetSuite and third-party systems using SuiteTalk (REST/SOAP) and iPaaS tools such as Celigo and Boomi.
- Lead data-migration efforts, including extraction, transformation, mapping, and load, with reconciliation and rollback planning.
- Produce technical design documents, run technical walkthroughs, conduct code reviews, and lead UAT for complex solutions.
- Manage deployments and version control using SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF); manage promotion across sandbox and production accounts.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact and escalation for clients, resolving non-routine and complex issues.
- Partner with functional consultants and project managers to ensure technical solutions align with business goals, and mentor junior developers.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on NetSuite experience with strong technical depth, delivering complex customizations and integrations in production.
- Expert-level SuiteScript 2.x/2.1 development across multiple script types (User Event, Client, Scheduled, Map/Reduce, Suitelet, RESTlet). SuiteScript 2.1 has been the standard since the NetSuite 2020.1 release; candidates working primarily in the legacy SuiteScript 1.0 API will not meet the bar for this role.
- Strong command of SuiteFlow, custom records/fields/forms, roles/permissions, saved searches, and the NetSuite data model.
- Demonstrated integration experience using SuiteTalk (REST/SOAP) and/or iPaaS platforms (Celigo, Boomi, or similar), including authentication (e.g., token-based auth), JSON/XML, and error handling.
- Solid JavaScript fundamentals; comfort with SQL-style querying (SuiteQL/saved searches).
- Experience leading data migration and understanding NetSuite governance limits and performance tuning.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or Canada; this role is open to candidates based in either country.
Preferred Qualifications
- NetSuite certifications: NetSuite Certified SuiteCloud Developer certifications.
- Experience with SuiteCloud Development Framework (SDF) and source control (Git).
- Experience integrating common systems (e.g., Shopify, Salesforce, Amazon, 3PL/EDI, payment/banking).
- Prior experience at a NetSuite Solution Provider, Alliance Partner, or a Big Four / national consulting firm.
