Our Methodology
Our methodology was developed by senior NetSuite practitioners who have collectively delivered hundreds of NetSuite implementations across the industries we serve. It is structured around six phases, each owned by senior consultants, and each producing documented artifacts that drive the next phase.
The result is implementations that align to the client's operating model rather than to a template — and that deliver measurable outcomes that survive the platform's bi-annual release cycle. As Oracle's product documentation states, "new features and functionality are released automatically to all NetSuite accounts twice a year," so an implementation that cannot absorb those releases cleanly will accumulate cost and risk over time.

From Strategy to Success
01 Discovery
Discovery is the most important phase of any NetSuite engagement, and at Novelance it is led by senior consultants — never delegated to a junior staffing pyramid. We map the current state in detail: business processes across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, project-to-cash, and inventory-to-fulfillment; current systems and integrations; data assets and quality; organizational structure; and stakeholder priorities.
We document business outcomes — what success looks like in measurable terms — before we touch configuration. Discovery deliverables include a current-state process model, future-state recommendations, a fit/gap analysis, and a draft Solution Design Document.

02 Design
The Solution Design Document is finalized in the design phase. Every business process is mapped to either standard NetSuite functionality, configuration, customization, or integration — and every decision is documented with rationale, owner, and trade-offs.
Data model decisions are made: chart of accounts, subsidiary structure, item taxonomy, customer hierarchy, role design, and reporting requirements. Integration architecture is decided at the level of patterns, tools, and data ownership. Security and access design are completed against a segregation of duties matrix.
SuiteSuccess approaches design by accepting the standard configuration and identifying exceptions. Our approach starts with the client's operating model and uses standard configuration first, customization second, integration third. The result is a system that fits the client rather than a client retrained to fit the system.
03 Build
Configuration and customization happen in parallel against the Solution Design Document. Senior NetSuite developers build SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, custom records, custom forms, custom roles, and custom dashboards.
Integrations are built in iPaaS (Celigo, Boomi, Workato, MuleSoft) or as custom SuiteCloud connectors, depending on architecture. Data migration scripts are built and tested. Build is version-controlled and code-reviewed.
In failed implementations, build is where over-customization, undocumented changes, and integration shortcuts accumulate. Our ‘build’ discipline is the difference between a NetSuite environment that ages well and one that becomes a maintenance burden inside two years.

04 Test
Testing is structured in layers: unit testing of customizations and integrations; integration testing across the full data flow; user acceptance testing led by client subject matter experts; regression testing against NetSuite's standard functionality; and performance and volume testing — particularly for integrations, which are stress-tested at 3x expected peak volume.
Defects are tracked, triaged, and resolved against documented exit criteria.
Insufficient testing is a primary cause of post-go-live disruption. We do not compress the testing phase under timeline pressure.
05 Deploy
Deployment includes data migration cutover, user training delivered by role, and a structured Golive event. Cutover is rehearsed in a controlled environment before the live load.
Hypercare follows Go-live: senior consultants are on the client's environment daily for the first month, then on defined response times through stabilization.
A Go-live without hypercare commonly produces the workaround culture that defines failed implementations. Hypercare is the bridge from project to operations.

06 Optimize
The engagement does not end at Go-live. Optimize is a continuous phase: quarterly business reviews, NetSuite release impact assessments, enhancement roadmaps, and platform maturity scoring.
We measure adoption, performance, and business outcomes against the success metrics defined in discovery.
A NetSuite environment that is not actively optimized becomes a legacy system inside three years. Optimization is how clients keep getting compound returns on their NetSuite investment.
